Signs it should not wait

Call the clinic the same day if you have any of these:

  • Severe or throbbing toothache that painkillers are not controlling
  • Swelling of the gum, face or jaw, especially if it is spreading
  • A tooth that has been knocked out, pushed out of position, or badly broken
  • Bleeding that will not stop after an extraction or an injury
  • A dental abscess (a painful pimple on the gum, often with a bad taste)
  • A lost filling or crown that has left a sharp or painful tooth
Usually can wait

Book a normal appointment

These are worth seeing us about, but they are not usually emergencies:

  • Mild sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet foods
  • A small chip with no pain and no sharp edge
  • A dull ache that comes and goes
  • Food catching between teeth
  • A check-up, cleaning or a filling you have been meaning to book

For these, use the online booking form or call during clinic hours and we will find you a convenient slot.

Before you reach us

What to do right now

Simple first aid can make a real difference while you get to the clinic. It does not replace treatment, but it can ease pain and, in the case of a knocked-out tooth, protect your chance of saving it.

Knocked-out tooth

Hold it by the crown, not the root. Rinse briefly with milk or clean water if dirty, then either slot it back into the socket and bite on a clean cloth, or keep it in a cup of milk. Get to a dentist within about an hour if you can. Time matters most here.

Severe toothache

Rinse with warm salty water and take your usual painkiller at the normal dose, following the packet. Avoid very hot, cold or sweet food on that side. Do not hold an aspirin against the gum, it burns the tissue. See our guide to a toothache at night.

Broken or chipped tooth

Save any pieces in milk if you can. Rinse your mouth with warm water, and if there is a sharp edge, a little orthodontic wax or sugar-free gum over it protects your tongue and cheek until we see you.

Swelling of the face or gum

A spreading facial swelling is the one to take seriously. Call us straight away during our hours. If it is spreading fast towards your eye or throat, or you are struggling to breathe or swallow, do not wait for a dentist, go to a hospital emergency department. Our full guide covers what to do in a dental emergency.

Open when you need us

Open 7 days, and honest about the hours we are not

Most dental clinics in Pune take a weekday half-day and close on Sunday, which is exactly when working people are free and when problems tend to surface. We are open all seven days, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, including Sundays and most public holidays, so a Saturday-night toothache does not have to wait until Monday.

We will be straight with you about what we are not: we are not a 24-hour clinic. If it is the middle of the night and you have uncontrolled bleeding, a swelling spreading towards the eye or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing, that is a medical emergency, go to a hospital emergency department, not a dental clinic. For everything within our hours, call +91 70287 22200 and we will help.

Emergency FAQ

Dental emergencies in Pune: your questions answered

Yes. Prudent Dental Care Clinic in Viman Nagar, east Pune, is open every day of the week, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and keeps time aside for urgent problems such as severe toothache, facial swelling and broken teeth. Call +91 70287 22200 and describe what has happened rather than booking online, so we can prioritise you and, where the day's schedule allows, see you the same day.
Yes. The clinic is open all seven days, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, including Sundays and most public holidays. Evenings and weekends are exactly when a dental problem tends to flare up and when many clinics are closed, which is why we keep those hours.
We are open 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM every day, but we are not a 24-hour clinic, and true round-the-clock dental clinics are rare in Pune. If you have a serious problem overnight, such as uncontrolled bleeding, facial swelling that is spreading towards the eye or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, treat it as a medical emergency and go to a hospital emergency department. For pain that is severe but not dangerous, the first-aid steps on this page can help you manage until we open.
It is best to call +91 70287 22200 first, so we can tell you how quickly we can see you and give you first-aid advice for the meantime. We always try to fit a genuine emergency into the day, but calling ahead means you are not sitting in pain in the waiting room while we finish with booked patients.
Pick the tooth up by the crown, never the root. If it is dirty, rinse it briefly with milk or clean water without scrubbing. If you can, place it back in the socket and hold it there by biting gently on a clean cloth. If you cannot, keep it in a cup of milk (not water) and get to a dentist as fast as possible. A knocked-out adult tooth has the best chance of being saved within about an hour, so call us on the way.
It depends entirely on what is wrong and what is needed to settle it, so we do not quote a flat emergency fee. We examine the problem, explain what is going on, and give you a clear, written quote before any treatment beyond first-line pain relief. Relieving the immediate pain and making you safe comes first.
We are in Viman Nagar and regularly see urgent patients from Kharadi, Kalyani Nagar, Wagholi and across east Pune. If you are far across the city and in serious pain, do not spend an hour in traffic; call your nearest dentist or a hospital first. For east Pune, we are a realistic same-day option.
